Sitting in the art room the other day I received a call from one of our sales team as is usually the case, he is requesting lie sheets for fall 2016 to send to one of his buyers in Ottawa, Canada.

Our protocol in my division is that the sales team comes directly to me as the director and even directly to the designers as well.

The inevitable question always arises… do you want all the line-sheets for the season?

Sales people as an animal will always want to go wide in the hopes that if the buyer does not like one commodity or style, they will be partial to another, however this always creates the dilemma that there are 80 to 90 line sheets in the current seasons collection, and to be able to make print ready files even at 500kb per page, you are looking at a 40mb email?

The psychology behind trying to explain file size to a salesman is very intricate. For some designers who understand the endgame and importance of the sales team this is an easy proposition, however to a lot of creative staff this is paramount to asking how to pour a glass of water.

The solution generally comes from a cross between a sufficient file size between 150 to 200kb this is generally an acceptable
